Over the years the Kenyan Education system has gone through several reviews that have led to some changes. These changes which have had both positive and negative impacts on the learner as well as the school at large. 

Loreto Convent Mombasa School has over the years undergone several stages of its development however we have remained true in observing the traditions and the Spirit of Venerable Mary Ward.

Loreto Mombasa, in keeping with the rest of Loreto Schools around the globe, has continued to offer quality and integral education as characterized by the virtues of Venerable Mary Ward of Justice, freedom, sincerity, truth and joy.  These are the founding and guiding force behind the holistic education that is offered in our schools.  This means that Loreto education gives priority to the integration of the spiritual, intellectual, moral, physical and emotional development of the individual pupil/student.

Loreto education will be meaningless or valueless if it is not faith based.  The person of Jesus Christ remains the centre of all that is done within the school life.  
We believe that children and youths must be guided to recognize the presence of God in all things and strengthen one's relationship with Christ. For everything begins and ends with God.

Loreto education encourages its pupils/students to strive for excellence in all areas of life depending on each one's potential.  Each child is gifted in different ways.  As educators we have the responsibility to encourage the pupils/students to develop their gifts/talents to the fullest. The recent introduction of Inter-Loreto Schools Sports Competition, has made sports activities be appreciated by many learners in our institutions.

Loreto education also encourages its learners in their initial stages of developments to have quality relationships within and beyond the school that are characterized by respect, justice, honesty, sincerity, courage, responsibility, openness, transparency and compassion. The bonds of friendships formed during these formative years remain a source of support and joy throughout their lives.

Social dynamism in today's world is something that all must commit themselves to.  Loreto therefore teaches and encourages its young men and women to be agents of social change committed to building a better world where justice and peace find a home. Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world”.   

Finally, I wish to encourage all Loreto educators to uphold the traditions and the spirit of our Foundress Venerable Mary Ward which form the holistic approach offered in our Institutions.  
We must strive to remain role models who love, care and encourage those we teach in our Institutions.
